Outrageous Oldies

This year, both Kris and our housemate Toby decided that they are getting old (pffftttt, 23 and 26), so to celebrate we had a little shin-dig/fancy dress/old person party.

It was nothing huge but an excellent excuse to get dressed up, so Kris and I scoured op shops for the best ‘old person kit’ we could find. We managed to find some hilarious/amazing stuff including: a floral teacup and saucer, a hideously ugly jumper, a fluffy granny jumper, the ugliest tie ever made (paisley and flower pots), and a seriously cool tweed jacket.

Since prescription glasses seem impossible to find in op shops lately, I decided to DIY my vintage sunnies I got at the suitcase rummage by popping out the tinted lenses and attaching a granny-esque chain. All of this was topped off by some baby powdered grey hair and velcro curlers.

Jono looked hilarious in his ‘Florida retiree’ inspired look

We have been meaning to take an ‘awkward family portrait‘ for some time now, so we figured dressed in our granny/grandpa best would be the perfect occasion. I think the results speak for themselves.

As was expected, things got a little messy (as they tend to at fancy dress parties) so the rest of the weekend was spent in a world of pain.

Kris – you are like Mr Monopoly, and
Jas – you are like Dame Edna ……… fantastic original dress, and the photos are terrific –
all you need now is a really old frame, which I’m sure can be found op shopping.
    Love – Thelma
