Un Pour Moi, Un Pour Toi

I know I talk quite a bit about my amazing friends and their latest projects, but I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such talented and inspiring people and really love sharing with my readers, especially when they are involved in something that you may also be interested in.

When I first met Jessy I was not only amazed by her impeccable sense of style, but also inspired by her creativity and passion for each and every thing that was discussed.  All of that was on top of her being such a fun and like-able person that I felt like I clicked with instantly.

It made me so incredibly proud to hear that she was following her dreams and opening Molten Store, an ‘online destination for purveyors of delicate, otherworldly jewellery and indulgent curiosities’.

After much anticipation, Molten Store has launched and is as fabulous as expected, suiting Jessy’s aesthetic perfectly.  Upon browsing there were so many items that caught my eye, with a number of them ending up on my ‘wish list’  including a necklace by House of Harlow, a pyrite ring by Rachel Pfeffer and this sweet little recipe journal.

Imagine my delight when I received an email about this competition where Molten Store are offering the chance to win one of the Pyrite Rings that I had already been lusting over, and not only that, they were giving my readers the opportunity to win one also.

Un Pour Moi, Un Pour Toi is french for ‘one for me, one for you’, so of course I am hoping that one of my readers wins this competition, meaning that I win also!  Wouldn’t that be fantastic?! Winners all around!

Op Shop Friday

Last Friday at uni was Op Shop day – where everyone found an item in the local op shops and money was raised to go back to local charities.

Blogger Date at The Village Markets

Gotta love waking up to sunshine on a Sunday after a miserably cold and rainy couple of days!  Although there were some threatening storm clouds on the horizon, the sun peeked through, making it the perfect weather to get out of the house and down to the Village Markets.

Sun Salutation

Now that winter has finally set in on the Gold Coast and the days have become gloomy and miserable, looking back on these photos (that are only a couple of weeks old) make me dream of sunshine falling on my face and finding a spot to shelter in the shade.  I am feeling a little overwhelmed by study so can only reminisce about lazy days spent exploring the area surrounding our new home.

This skirt has been the best value for money – so cheap and very versatile – I have worn it so much!  The under layer is actually floor length but I prefer to tuck it up short to accentuate the ‘sheer-ness’ of the skirt.

Spots and Stripes

I hope that you all had a lovely Easter break and managed to mark a few things off your to do list…as well as having a couple of days to relax and have a good time.
Although the entire weekend was plagued with rain, Kris and I still spent a day down at Currumbin wandering around and exploring while trying to stay as dry as possible.

After we had taken a stroll along the beach, we headed up Currumbin creek for a little change of scenery.  The rain forced us to shelter in the car for a while, but eventually the sky cleared a little and allowed us to explore a little more.

Super cute!

With the change in weather, I got a chance to wear my ‘new’ jumper I got from a $2 Vinnies sale.  Thanks to Ally for letting me know about the sale!

A fabulous day was finished off with an amazing lunch at Magic Apple cafe.  Completely veggo, vegan and GF friendly and cheekily placed next to McDonalds, it is the perfect place for a late lunch if you are near Burleigh. Seriously, check out the size of that felafel burger!

What did you do with your Easter break??

three and a half

Last week we celebrated  ‘three and a half’ years together, but rather than spending the morning sleeping in and eating breakfast in bed, Kris had to rush off for a placement at a relationship counseling organisation (coincidence much? haha).

I was tempted to spend the morning studying, but thankfully took the more exciting option of heading off to the beach with my book and waiting for Kris to finish so that we could meet for lunch.

It was beautiful weather and a perfect morning, that only could have been made more perfect if my lover was by my side.

I didn’t have too long to wait before we met up at Vintage Espresso and were sipping on coffee, chatting about relationship dynamics and just enjoying the rest of the day together.

The coffee was fabulous…and we are super fussy with our coffee so that is saying a lot!  I loved their cute little mis-matched cups and saucers too.

I can highly recommend the roast veggie pizza, it was the perfect veggie: dough ratio (ie. stacks of veggies on a thin base).

Look at that sweet face… I will never get tired of looking at it!

We went for a stroll down at the beach and my wonderful man snapped off a few quick photos of me in the pretty floral vintage number I picked up at the Village Markets from Bird and Rose Vintage.

Thanks for always making me laugh lover!  I love you to bits!

The Village Markets

Last Sunday we were all fed up with study, so spent the rainy day exploring one of our new locals, The Village Markets.

The Village Markets are my ideal little market, full of reasonably priced vintage and easily browsed in under an hour, the perfect way to spend the first Sunday of every month.

Despite a torrential downpour descending on the Gold Coast for the entire morning the rain stopped for the entire time we were there, allowing me to snap up a couple of bargains, satisfying my shopping urge while sticking to the student budget.  I bought a couple of exciting little things that I can’t wait to post about.

The weather was (finally) cool enough to allow me to try out my ‘new’ coral vintage trousers and unleash my unruly curls.

I was too busy shopping to take any snaps of the stalls, but it is definitely worth the little drive down to Burleigh as the vendors seem to change up a little each month.

Also got snapped by their resident street style photographer for The Village Markets blog…  Thanks guys!

See you next month TVM!

Double surprise

I always love a good excuse to pop on some sky high wedges, a little black dress and a smack of red lippy, and since it has been far too long since I have done an outfit post, thought it would be a nice chance to take some pictures too.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending my Aunty’s surprise 50th birthday party, and catching up with some extended family that is up from Melbourne.  If any of you follow me on twitter, you would know that there was more than one surprise last night… After my Aunt had finally recovered from the shock of walking into a noisy restaurant packed full of friends, family, balloons and party poppers, her partner of 15 years dropped to one knee and proposed!

The whole family is very excited about an upcoming wedding (and of course I was asked if I will be next… don’t hold your breath family!).

With my cute new bag in hand, we had an impromptu photo shoot in our driveway.  Next time we will have to get out and explore our new home to discover interesting little locations for photo shoots!

Secret Squirrel at GOMA

So I know I promised ages ago to share some of the prizes I have been lucky enough to win in the past few weeks, but with the incessant rain in Brisbane, any chance at a photo shoot has been continually delayed, until we decided that it might just continue raining forever so we should find somewhere under shelter to snap a few pics.

My lucky streak started with winning a some adorable little bulldog clips in a competition run by the lovely Kylie from Flying Ducks – how much cuter do they look than those big ugly black bulldog clips you usually get?

Yum… I still want to make that fig and raspberry tart from delicious magazine (but am on a self-imposed health kick for the time being so it will have to wait).

With my new found competition winning confidence, I entered another blog giveaway from Fashion Hayley, thinking that I had little chance on such a popular blog up against 60 other people… but I was surprised and shocked to see that my name was randomly chosen as the winner of a beautiful outfit from Secret Squirrel.

Yes… that rope is sheer.

Kris and I decided to make a trip to the latest exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art for some wet weather fun and hopefully some photo ops, but unfortunately walking over the bridge in my favourite wedges wasn’t going to happen with the torrential rain and our pathetic excuse for an umbrella, so please ignore my go-to ballet flats and imagine some amazing shoes with this outfit.

The skirt is another khaki piece that integrates so nicely into my closet, and with its cinched in, paper bag look, I can picture it being worn both day and night, dressed up or down.  The top is completely different to anything that I own, and I love it.  For me it is such a statement piece that feels nautical without being the typical blue and white stripes (as much as I love a good striped top).

I really couldn’t be happier with my new outfit and it comes at the perfect time,  since going back to uni will put a serious dent in the ‘clothes buying fund’.

The fabulous thing was that the styling part was already done by the talented Hayley, just leaving me to add shoes and accessories (so sorry Hayley, I failed you there haha).  I did manage to throw my latest favourite necklace on as we headed out the door, my long tarnished feather… purchased on a now distant weekend away in Byron.

Just after I won the outfit I had the pleasure of reading a lovely interview with the designer from Secret Squirrel, on a blog that has only recently come onto my radar: purplegrape.  I love that Yasmine is a proud vegan and uses her blog as a place to share her passion for animal rights and animal-friendly fashion, and it was so refreshing to read an interview that showcases a vegan designer placing the welfare of animals before what is ‘on-trend’ or ‘in fashion’.

The third win in my lucky streak was from the folks at Magnation, who I follow on twitter, that had been doing some giveaways leading up to Christmas.  I thought it would be nice for Kris and I to have a couple of moleskine journals, just for everyday use or to separate any creative distractions from our study notes, and when I put an order in I was lucky enough to be the first person to use the winning code.  Yay!

So… I only ask for one more thing.  That my winning streak continue until at least NYE so that we can win 31 million in the lotto.  Keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed for me!

Thanks again to Kylie, Hayley, Secret Squirrel and Magnation for their generosity and the fabulous prizes!
