My wonderful friend Lady Dash has recently started blogging about her cooking adventures, in particular, cooking her way through Donna Hay’s ‘Fresh, Fast, Simple’. She was also given the opportunity to test out a few of Donna’s new range of packet mixes so we decided to collaborate on a blog post.
Of course, Lady Dash is the perfect host, and I was lucky enough to be treated to a delicious lunch: Herb and Mozzarella Mushrooms with Garlic Toasts, which was the entree at her latest dinner party (that I unfortunately had to miss).

After a big week at uni and catching up on study, the boy and I thought we should treat ourselves to a lunch date. A ridiculously late breakfast meant that we actually weren’t at all hungry, so we decided to make a trip to Nobby beach to have a wander and try out a cafe that a friend recommended – Canvas.

For some bizarre reason, I got it into my head last week to make shortcrust pastry from scratch, even though I had to be at uni 30 minutes later. I remembered the cookbook that came with my Kenwood food processor had a recipe in it and it was actually even easier than I expected, despite the fact that we (at that stage) did not own a rolling pin –
A half empty wine bottle works just as well, in case you were wondering 😉

Gotta love waking up to sunshine on a Sunday after a miserably cold and rainy couple of days! Although there were some threatening storm clouds on the horizon, the sun peeked through, making it the perfect weather to get out of the house and down to the Village Markets.

Some mornings, even in the heart of winter, a fruit platter with yoghurt can be the best breakfast in the world. I am so excited that it is finally strawberry season and they are now beautifully sweet, without breaking the bank!
Though it may take a little longer, there is something just so fabulous about eating a wonderfully presented breakfast from a tray. It makes me feel like I am on holiday or being waited on, despite making it for myself.
Natural yoghurt topped with frozen raspberries, toasted almonds and a touch of honey adds a little extra to fill you up after all that fruit. Yum!
